Assalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb.
Honorable the juries, respectable the audiences,
Ladies and Gentlemen
In this good occasion, I’d like to deliver a speech entitled “Global Warming “
Ladies and Gentlemen
When you hear the term of Global Warming, maybe the first thing that crosses in your mind is the rising of the earth’s temperature globally. That is not wrong perception. Because when we talk about Global Warming, it means that we talk about the earth’s temperature that is getting warmer day by day globally.
Ladies and Gentlemen
The question for us today is what global warming is actually? How could it happen?
Over the past 150 years humans have been burning more and more fuel, especially fossil fuels – coal and gas for example. Because more fuel is being burnt, more carbon dioxide is being put into the atmosphere. The extra carbon dioxide is increasing the greenhouse effect, so the earth’s atmosphere is absorbing more infra-red energy and the earth is getting warmer.
Ladies and Gentlemen
If this happens continuously, it will be the greatest environmental problem. Now, the earth is getting warmer so the ice at the North and South poles is melting. This is putting more water into the seas and oceans, which can cause flooding in coastal areas. Because the earth’s atmosphere is getting warmer there is more energy in the air, so storms, hurricanes and typhoons are becoming stronger and more frequent. There is also evidence that global warming is changing the earth’s climate, making some places drier and others wetter.
Ladies and Gentlemen
So, what can we do to reduce this global warming?
Here are some simple ways that we can do to reduce the global warming. The first is save electricity at home, at school and at work. The second is try to use your bike or just walk when you go to school, to work or wherever you go. The third is plant trees. Because the trees can absorb carbon dioxide, greenhouse gas, from the air. And the fourth is try to follow this environmental policy: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
Ladies and Gentlemen
As conclusion, because Global warming is a dramatically urgent and a serious problem, we don’t need to wait for government to find a solution for this problem. Each individual can bring an important help adopting a more responsible lifestyle: starting from little, everyday things. It’s the only reasonable way to save our planet, before it is too late.
